Waiting Room

Anyone who has ever lost patience and pulled an unripe apple off the tree knows firsthand the price of being too hasty. All things have been appointed a time to begin, a time to grow, and a time to be fruitful. This is an inescapable reality of our world, regardless of how inventive we get with altering our environments or distracting our minds.

Access to Grace

When some followers of Christ find themselves suffering, their immediate response is “Lord, deliver me from this, immediately!” He can and sometimes He does. But He often does not. When He does not, it may be because it is His will to grow spiritual character in the life of His follower.

The Man with the Palsy | Salvation vs. Miracles: How do you see Jesus?

How do we see Jesus? Is Jesus our Saviour onto eternal life in fellowship with God? Or, Is Jesus a tool to fix problems in this life? When faced with life’s problems what do we want from Jesus? Do we want exercise our faith or ease our flesh? Do we want His “strength to be made perfect” in our “weakness”?

"Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy." ~ Micah 7:18

Life from Death: The Promise of Affliction

Far from being an obstacle to our spiritual growth, pain can be the instrument of it… if we are trained by it.

BUILDING A SPIRITUAL WALL: Five Imperatives of Spiritual Growth

Despite the damage sin does to us spiritually and physically, the Blood of Jesus Christ washes us clean and makes us new. From human eyes, it might not look like much, but we have everything we need to build up our spiritual wall of salvation. And that wall is indestructible, because God is its architect. Therefore, if/when we fall into sin let us not doubt our spiritual growth (if indeed we have been growing!). Rather, we should keep an eye on the gates watching and praying so that the enemy does not infiltrate our spiritual wall and lead us into temptation (Mark 14:38).

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved (Matt. 24:13)

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins: “Salvation must be everything or it does nothing”

If Salvation is to achieve its work in us, then it must be everything to us.

"And I will... refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God." (Zechariah 13:9)

Melting Points and Acid Tests

We keep fighting temptation, because intensely hot and intensively corrosive environments are necessary to produce true diamonds and true saints.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. ~Psalm 42:11

H.O.P.E.: Heavenly Outlook Produces Endurance

For the Christian, Faith is the compass that points the way to God and Hope is the sustenance for the journey. The closer we get to God, the more strength we have to keep going. Hope gives us energy; it builds our muscles and it keeps our Christian life in tune.

Sin Doesn’t Come in Sizes

It is the combination of God’s mercy, as He patiently works with us, and His Word, as it transforms our mindset, which ultimately breaks the power of sin over our lives…If God has started the transformation process in us, He won’t stop working (even if He has to use with trials to get it done). God won’t quit on you… so don’t quit on yourself!!!

"In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted." ~Psalm 77:2

Trials Teach True Tenderness

Without troubles, we easily wander away from God and slip into the illusion of self-sufficiency. But the difficulties of life sharpen our focus on God and heighten our sensitivity to His loving touch.
