WANTED!!!: Wisdom

Facebook Twitter More...

‎”If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.~ James 1:5

We like to think of ourselves as wise, yes? But, outside of Christ, mankind is most foolish!

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. ~ Proverbs 14:12

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. ~ Proverbs 2:6

When we accept Jesus as Savior and the Holy Spirit indwells us, we will have access to the wisdom of God through His Word, the Bible, and the promptings of The Holy Spirit.

God wants us to ask His wisdom in everyday situations, as our verse says. When we follow our own so-called wisdom, we get into a world of hurt! How do we know God’s wisdom? The great “filter” for all things truly wise in God’s eyes is the Bible. If it lines up with Scripture then we can rest assured that God is favor of it. God is the Author of true wisdom! And, when we ask Him, He doesn’t give it to us sparingly; no, He gives His wisdom to us generously!!

Don’t you just love God?!

He doesn’t condemn us for not knowing what is the wise thing to do, but gives us His wisdom when we seek it.

However, when we seek His wisdom and we know what the wise thing to do is, but choose to do the unwise thing, then we are to be pitied for our lack of trust in God, who gave us the wisdom which we ignored! Most of us have fallen into this category and have paid the consequences for it. But, if we go to God and confess our sins (as John 1:9 points out), then we can get back to following His perfect wisdom!

Lord help me to seek Your wisdom in all that I do and say everyday in my life, Thank You for loving me so!!

    • Hi Keijo;

      We would all do well to have the passion for wisdom as you do:

      “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)

      “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” (Proverbs 8:11)

      Thanks for stopping by and sharing.

      God Bless!!!

  2. HE ( Christ ) is wisdom and when we ask for wisdom shouldn’t we expect to receive the mind of Christ? I know I need wisdom everyday and the discernment to go along with it.

    • Thanks again for sharing words of wisdom with us Brother Luther. Wisdom and discernment are vital components of a Believer’s “toolbox”; they are great in preventing us from falling to the tricks of our adversary, the devil.

  3. He is the light unto our paths, without his wisdom my path would be very dark. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, because the wisdom of this world will pass awasy but he is forver. Thank you and you are blessed.

    • Hi Sister Isabella;

      Thanks for stopping by an sharing! Yes, God Himself lights our way and wisdom begins with fear of Him. It can be a challenge to recognize that is this world that bombards us with “knowledge” from “experts”. But, at best, we “see” only partially; without God we will stumble around this life in darkness.

      “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

      “Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.” (John 12:35)

      “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” (John 12:46)

  4. I love that we don’t have to know it all. We can run to the One who does know everything. We can ask for wisdom and it will be given to us. Amen!
    I found your blog through the blog farm.

    • Thanks so much for sharing, Lisa. Yes, you are right; it is great to know we can run to and take shelter under The Rock. Recent research shows that our decision making is rarely ever rational, it is muddled by things from past experiences to hormonal fluctuations (in BOTH men and women). So to depend on ourselves for wisdom is quite foolhardy. it is a relief to know that God knows and He shares His wisdom with us GENEROUSLY!

      BTW, visited your blog, it looks GREAT!!!

    I enjoyed reading your blog and especially the verse in James about wisdom. The reason most people won’t pray to God about Wisdom is because we are afraid that He won’t answer the way we think He should, and that He won’t give us permission to do as we please. That is why many don’t ask for wisdom. But when we don’t ask then we end up messing the problem up and making it much more bigger then it really was then we regret it later.

    • Hi Desiray;

      You are perfectly correct, well said. It is hard to get our desires/wants out of the way and realize the God is NOT a “rubber stamp” to legitimize our plans. Thanks for sharing, Desiray, and keep sharing in the wonderful ministry God has entrusted to you.

      God Bless!!!
