…in the battles of the day (pro-life vs. pro-choice, pro-gun vs. anti-gun, pro-gay vs. anti-gay, pro-immigration vs. anti-immigration, pro-tax vs. anti-tax, pro-austerity vs. pro-stimulus, left vs. right) it can be easy to forget God’s unfailing love and the importance of demonstrating that love, even to those with whom we vehemently disagree.
…it is prudent that we change our attitudes from tribulation avoidance to tribulation expectation/preparation, because we know it is coming. no matter what we do.
Believers, we must live our lives here on earth knowing that we don’t belong here. We will escape the battles and the struggles one day.
If all the material things, that we so love to accumulate, are going to be dissolved,
Then it is wiser to spend our time and effort accumulating spiritual treasure that will be preserved for eternity.
Rest can be defined as freedom from strife, freedom from anxiety. But, apart from God there is no rest: man cannot free himself of strife and anxiety.
After all the recent distractions with elections, let us get back to our true jobs: laboring in the fields of The Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus.
The real “prize” is not political/legislative power/influence, the real prize is the uplift of Jesus (John 12:32). And to do this effectively we must love each other. So let us always AFFIRM GOD’S PEOPLE; yes, even when our philosophies clash.
His life wasn’t making sense anymore, but Job wasn’t about to leave God and Job wasn’t going to pretend he understood what God was doing.
Even when things are at their worst for us, God is yet showing us mercy because we are alive, we still have a chance to call on His Name.
