In His Hands
Lay hold of me with Thy strong grasp,
Let Thy almighty arm
In its embrace my weakness clasp,
And I shall fear no harm.
Lay hold of me with Thy strong grasp,
Let Thy almighty arm
In its embrace my weakness clasp,
And I shall fear no harm.
How oft have I betrayed my Lord
with feigns of love in deed and word
While in my cold and calloused heart
I held myself from Him apart
The hands are strong, but gentle
The force is firm, but kind
The pressure from the Potter’s touch
Brings changes over time.
O unbelief, how strange a marvel thou art! We know not which most to wonder at, the faithfulness of God or the unbelief of His people. He keeps His promise a thousand times, and yet the next trial makes us doubt Him.
If God is love, then to be Godless is to also be loveless. If God is love, then wherever God is rejected, love is rejected as well.
It is God and not men that impute value to human life. And, in God’s eyes, ALL lives matter. Whether you value my life or not, God does. How anyone (even me) values my life does NOT change my intrinsic God-derived value.
His children had behaved badly for many years, despite many warnings, and it was time for them to “experience” Fatherly correction. But the correction was not without purpose, it was not borne of anger. Rather, as a good father, the correction that God was about to inflict was meant to help them change from doing evil to doing good: God wanted them to become the best children they could be.
We are told that nothing shall separate us from God’s love for us. And that is greatly comforting, even inspirational. However, it is difficult to remember this truth and walk in this truth when trials come into our lives.
Here we are told, without LOVE it is impossible to SERVE God. Preaching/Teaching is empty without Godly love, Spirituality is pointless without Godly love and Generosity/Giving is worthless without Godly love.
We should note… that God’s care for the sparrows does not prevent them from experiencing the normal struggles and challenges and difficulties of life: they are eaten, they have diseases, they lose their ‘loved ones’…
