In His Hands
Lay hold of me with Thy strong grasp,
Let Thy almighty arm
In its embrace my weakness clasp,
And I shall fear no harm.
Lay hold of me with Thy strong grasp,
Let Thy almighty arm
In its embrace my weakness clasp,
And I shall fear no harm.
O unbelief, how strange a marvel thou art! We know not which most to wonder at, the faithfulness of God or the unbelief of His people. He keeps His promise a thousand times, and yet the next trial makes us doubt Him.
The test of Isaac’s faith was whether he would pass on the “promissory note” to his children. We ONLY pass on the things we truly believe in.
The modern church does not suffer, primarily, from a lack of teaching: the modern church suffers from a lack of obedience. The failure of the church today is that Believers refuse to practice the teachings of Scripture: we make every excuse to do the opposite of what the Bible teaches. We will only be able to stand up to the fierce storms of life if we have a foundation built on OBEDIENCE to God’s Word.
When everyone else is compromising, will you be UNcompromising?
Are you willing to be the fuddy-duddy, the stick-in-the-mud, the square, the goody-two-shoes, the odd-man-out, the weirdo, the fanatic, the moron, the dinosaur, the last Christian standing?
Are you willing to suffer ALONE?
As long as we focus and God and His Word, as long as we depend on Him and not ourselves, as long as we keep close to Him, we have ALL we need to live faithfully: we will not be moved.
We are told that nothing shall separate us from God’s love for us. And that is greatly comforting, even inspirational. However, it is difficult to remember this truth and walk in this truth when trials come into our lives.
We cannot expect our children to grow up and follow Christ if we as parents do not follow Christ! Our kids are with us for 18 years 24/7, they see us at our worst and our best. They see us when no one else is around to impress with our “godly” behavior. Our children know, probably more than anyone just how much we love and follow Jesus.
“How does a mother bury her fourth child?” “How does a father go home without a job to return to and with bills to pay?” But we know God IS good. We know He has made a way for us. We know that even when we are faithless, He IS faithful.
Christianity’s scramble for popularity today is an unconscious acknowledgment of spiritual decline. Her eager fawning at the feet of the world’s great is a grief to the Holy Spirit and an embarrassment to the sons of God.
